The Matrix Awakens Unreal Engine 5 Demo Available for Pre-Download

The full demo will be revealed at this week’s The Game Awards.

The Matrix Resurrections

After leaking last week, The Matrix Awakens, an Unreal Engine 5 tech demo, is now available for pre-download on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The demo will properly launch on December 9th, during the 2021 Game Awards.

Get ready for a glimpse into the future of interactive storytelling and entertainment with UE5,” reads the official description on the Unreal Engine’s site.

The demo comes before the theatrical release of the fourth Matrix film, The Matrix Resurrections, on December 22nd.

Lana Wachowski also worked on The Matrix Awakens along with cast members Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss.

The Matrix Awakens is an overdue return for the Matrix franchise to the world of video games. Enter the Matrix (2003) The Matrix: Path of Neo (2005) and The Matrix Online (2005) all either directly adapted or expanded the continuity of the film series, with several events in the MMO The Matrix Online directly, canonically affecting characters from the films. It is unclear how much of events from the games will influence the plot of The Matrix Resurrections.

Along with The Matrix Awakens, this week’s The Game Awards is expected to include reveal for 40-50 new titles.
