New Trailer for The Founder Drops

The Founder film

Following the success of Birdman and Spotlight, Michael Keaton returns as the man who made McDonald’s what it is today (for better or worse).

For those who don’t know the story, it might come as a surprise that Keaton is not called McDonald. He plays Ray Kroc, a failed milkshake salesman who sees an opportunity where the McDonald brothers do (or can) not.

Seemingly having more in common with The Social Network than Steve Jobs, it looks like a tale of double-crossing and ruthlessness (or as Keaton says, “persistence”) as Kroc seeks to overthrow the McDonald brothers and turn their business into the relentlessly expanding franchise we know today.

Having starred in the last two films to bag the Best Picture at the Academy Awards, Keaton might very well be looking to make it a hat-trick with The Founder.

Whilst it might be early days to call this a contender for next year, there is plenty of talent attached in the form of director John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr. Banks, The Blind Side), screenwriter Robert D. Siegel (The Wrestler), and a great cast including Linda Cardellini, Nick Offerman.

Time will tell, but this certainly looks more like a full meal than a cheap bit of fast food cinema.
