The Forest Finally Releases On PS4 Today

The Forest PS4

It’s been a long wait to see one of the best survival games on PC to land on console, but The Forest finally and belatedly makes its debut on the PS4 today.

Endnight Games’ long-gesticulating console version of The Forest, which is not to be confused with that piss-bad Natalie Dormer movie, has been pushed back and flown off the radar a few times, but now it’s time for PS4 owners to find out what all the fuss is about.

A survival games sans penis sliders, The Forest is an Early Access success story that pits you as a father looking for his son after his captured by a weird tribe following a plane crash. The game has a good story, but the main attraction is the survival itself.

Having poured many hours into the game on PC, I’ve built more than my fair share of barricades made out of corpses and guiltily gutted far too many turtles. It’s a pretty hardcore experience, so it will be interesting to see how it translates to PS4. As long as they make the motion and sound of chopping wood just as satisfying as it is on PC, the game should do just fine.

The Forest, complete with co-op, launches today (November 6th) on the PlayStation Store for $19.99.
