Universal just released the official trailer for The 355, starring Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, Diane Kruger and Penélope Cruz. The film also stars Sebastian Stan and Edgar RamÃrez. This is an action packed espionage film, in the vein of Charlie’s Angels, but without the campy humour and greater stakes.
What’s It About?
When a top-secret weapon falls into mercenary hands, wild card CIA agent Mason (Chastain) will need to join forces with rival German agent Marie (Kruger), former MI6 ally and cutting-edge computer specialist Khadijah (Nyong’o), and skilled Colombian psychologist Graciela (Cruz). The mission is high stakes and dangerous, and if that’s not enough, they have to stay one step ahead of a mysterious woman, Lin Mi Sheng (Bingbing Fan), who is tracking their every move.
Director Details & Release Date
The film is directed by Simon Kinberg, who previously helmed X-Men: Dark Phoenix (so this film can really go either way). He also has writing credits, along with Theresa Rebeck.
It’s about time we got a kick-ass, female espionage film, and the great thing about this is that it shows women in variety of fields, which will add a sense of balance overall.
The movie is set to release January 15, 2021. As we know, January isn’t the best release date for films, but with Universal constantly pushing its films to VOD, it might do well.
