Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition Arriving Next Year

Despite Capcom saying that they weren’t intending on releasing multiple iterations of Street Fighter V, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition will be releasing on January 16th 2018.

To be fair, the Arcade Edition update looks set to deliver on many fan criticisms that have been thrown towards SF V since its release. Firstly, we’re finally getting a damn Arcade Mode, where players select from one of six paths related to the Street Fighter series. Only taken two years but we’re finally getting some bread and butter modes. Praise be to Lord Bison.

The Extra Battle mode will provide players with unique time exclusive challenges, which players can complete for additional fight money. Those stages won’t pay for themselves. Completing four challenges in one month will also net you a sweet premium outfit exclusive to that mode, so there’s plenty of incentive to get involved.

The Arcade Edition will also ship with every character from Season 1 and 2, which includes characters like Akuma, Urien, Juri, Kolin and Menat, along with an additional V-Trigger move for every character. As far as significant gameplay changes go, that takes the cake, as the amount of potential match-ups doubles instantly.

If you’ve been sitting on the fence when it comes to Street Fighter V, this Arcade Edition seems like the perfect time to jump in, and at a discounted price too. Current owners of Street Fighter V will get access to the new modes and V-Triggers as a free update, which is even better. It means the player base won’t be segregated between Vanilla SF V players and Arcade Edition players, which was the case with Street Fighter IV.
