Street Fighter 6 introduces players to the World Tour mode, an RPG like single-player campaign that allows players to create their own avatar, learn the moves of everyone on the roster and become the most powerful character the franchise has ever seen. In order to reach those lofty heights, you need to find masters willing to teach you, and one master who’ll turn you into a rushdown god is Ken.

A practioner of the Ansatsuken martial arts, Ken has become famous over the decades of Street Fighter’s existence with his aggressive style and multi-hit flaming uppercuts, making him a favourite for those who love their combos to be long and flashy. If that sounds like a good time to you, here’s how you can have Ken become your master in Street Fighter 6’s World Tour mode.

The former nation champ, Ken’s fallen on hard times recently after being falsely accused of aiding a criminal plot. Forced into hiding, you can still find Ken hanging around Metro City during the day, but the process is a little bit more complicated than some of the other masters in this game. Ken will be unlocked as part of the game’s main storyline in Chapter 8, but if you’re willing to put in the work earlier, you can unlock him as early as Chapter 4.

Ken resides at the construction site in Metro City, but you can’t access that area until you obtain a safety helmet. In order to do so, you need to complete the Sub Quest “Safety First”, in which you’ll earn a Yellow Safety Helmet as an equippable item. Stick it on your bonnet in the status menu on the in-game phone, then speak to people at the front of the constuction site during the daytime to trigger a cutscene where you’ll meet Ken.

After that, you’ll need to speak to the NPC Gus, who is blocking the entrance to the inside of the construction site. You’ll need to fight him in order to get past, but the issue is that he’s level 22, so unless you’ve been playing all of the side content up to this point, he could be a bit of trouble. After beating him, he’ll step aside, letting you explore freely. Head upstairs and you’ll find Ken on the second floor. Speak to him, declare you want to learn martial arts and say you recognise him as a national champion, and he’ll fight you.

Ken is no joke, especially if you’re trying to fight him before the intended meeting in Chapter 8. He’s rather aggressive, and will consistently convert normal attacks into Overdrive Shoryukens, so make sure you have a healthy amount of healing items to hand. Once you’ve beaten him, you’ll have earned yourself a brand new master.

Street Fighter 6 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X & S.
