Starfield: Where To Find Gold

Gold (or Au) is a rare resource that you’ll need for various crafting recipes found throughout the settled systems and beyond in Starfield. From gear and consumables to ship customisation, structures, and research projects, gold is a valuable resource that you should never be in short supply of.

In order to obtain this valuable resource, you’re going to have to find it in the vast sandbox that is Stanfield’s universe. We’ve selected a few planets and moons that are easy pickings for your early game, so you won’t have to travel far to find them. Locations include:

– Cruth (Narion System)
– Kalira (Cheyenne System)
– Stellis A (Cheyenne System)
– Altair III (Altair System)

It can be a tricky resource to find, as there’s only a small selection of planets and moons that house gold. If you spot any while exploring the surfaces of these locations, you can mine the ore with your Cutter, which will be absorbed into your inventory automatically after a successful mine.

A more efficient method is to use your hand scanner and look for any areas that are highlighted in gold. This means that you can use a gold extractor to harvest this material and acquire a frequent stream of it. While resource-heavy to set up, it is well worth the effort, as finding this resource when you need it the most can be tricky and sometimes time-consuming.

For a short-term approach, you can always purchase it from vendors found throughout the solar systems. Though they can be in relatively short supply and are more expensive than your typical resource. If you’re feeling rich, then head on over to the UC Distribution Center in the commercial district of New Atlantis and shop to your heart’s content. Or until your credit account runs dry.

Additional vendors are Jemison Mercantile (New Atlantis), Midtown Minerals (Akila City), and Mining League (Neon). Depending on where you are during your playthrough, you can head over to the closest one to save a bit of time.

Starfield is available now on PC and Xbox Series X & S.
