As you’ve been playing Starfield, like the rest of us have been, you might have stumbled on a variety of real world literature that you can pick up. For the most part, these books don’t seem to serve much of a purpose, unless it’s the Oliver Twist book that leads to a new landmark on Earth to explore. Regardless, you might be carrying around a lot of books, with no idea on if you should keep hold of them, but keep them on you, as they do serve a purpose.

Starfield Old Earth Books Explained

Along the course of the game’s main quest, you’ll head to the planet of Akila in the Cheyenne System, more specifically landing at the aptly named Akila City. While the main quest doesn’t stay in Akila City for long, you should stick around, as there’s a variety of quests, companions and other interactions to find. What we’re looking for right now though is Sinclair’s Books, a book shop located near the Stoneroot Inn and Coe Heritage Museum. If you’re struggling to find it, it’s on the left-hand city of the city as you enter through the main city gates.

Inside Sinclair’s Books, alongside the Gunslinger’s Guide 02 Skill Magazine, is the owner, Ahnjong Sinclair. Talk to her, and she’ll tell you that she’s looking for a variety of original printing Old Earth books to add to her collection, and that she’ll pay you 2000 credits for your troubles. However, the catch is that she won’t buy any Charles Dickens books off you, because when humanity left Earth, apparently everyone instinctively reached for the Dickens novels. Once you’ve got a book she wants, talk to her and pick the prompt “If I have any books for your Old Earth collection, I’ll sell them to you.”

According to the website GameSkinny, the books that Ahnjong will take off your hands includes:

– City of God
– Dover Beach
– Dracula
– History of Pyrates
– Moby Dick
– Omega: The Last Days
– Rhapsody On Windy Night
– Tales of Time and Space
– The Comet
– The Count of Monte Cristo
– The Light of Stars
– War of the Worlds

There may be more books to find however, because Starfield is quite the big game. It’s also worth noting that Ahnjong will only buy the one copy of a book from you, so don’t go thinking you can drop ten copies of Dracula at her doorstep and start raking in the dough. Still, if you see a trader or merchant holding one of these books, it might be worth buying them, as they’re not heavy and you’ll likely earn more in profit from selling them to Ahnjong.

Starfield is available now on PC and Xbox Series X & S.
