Cobalt (or Co) is an uncommon resource that you’ll need to craft various recipes that will help you on your journey across the stars in Starfield. There are a multitude of ways to obtain this resource, and in this guide, we are going to cover every possible way to get Cobalt.
You can find Cobalt on a variety of planets and moons, which can be obtained rather early on. A few locations near the solar system you start in are:
– Triton (Sol System)
– Venus (Sol System)
– Vos (Alpha Centauri System)
– Lovell (Alpha Centauri System)
– Zamka (Alpha Centauri System)
– Hawley (Alpha Centauri System)
– Montara Luna (Cheyenne System)
– Bismark (Cheyenne System)
You can find Cobalt scattered across the surface of these locations and many others in Starfield. Cobalt deposits can be mined with your Cutter, which will automatically add the resource to your inventory. You can use a hand scanner to visibly spot areas that have Cobalt and mark a suitable spot for an outpost.
Using an outpost in these locations can passively generate Cobalt for you if you need a large amount of it. Simply place the required extractor over the Cobalt vein, and the resource will be yours. You can craft some storage units to store additional amounts of resources, making your journey to and fro even more rewarding. You can even find this resource in crates and on corpses, but these are random drops and aren’t a reliable way to gather Cobalt.
By far the easiest method to obtain this resource is to bulk buy it from various vendors found throughout the settled systems. You can get Cobalt from Midtown Minerals, located in Akila City; Mining League, in the city of Neon; and UC Distribution Center, in the commercial district of New Atlantis. There are more out there, but these are a few accessible ones you’ll be able to jump to early in your playthrough.
Starfield is available now on PC and Xbox Series X & S.
