Star Wars Battlefront 2, The 2005 Version, Gets A New Update

Battlefront 2

Somebody somewhere is still making updates for 2005’s Star Wars Battlefront 2, and they’re a treasure. The 12 year old game, made by the now defunct developers Pandemic, received some resurrected online servers back in October, but today a patch has been issued with the following improvements:

  • Lobby functionality has been improved
  • Steam usernames should now display correctly
  • Ping calculations are more accurate

The update looks to be issued by GOG, who were also responsible for the returning servers in October. A partnership between GOG and Disney allowed players to return to the galaxy far, far away that got released a long time ago, whilst also supporting cross-play with Steam users. It’s likely that they’re also behind the recent update, but the narrative of a “Rogue One” updating Battlefront II on a whim would have excellent.

In any event, if you’re looking for an alternative to the loot box riddled mess that is 2017’s Star Wars Battlefront 2, perhaps your future lies in the past. Will you be joining the nostalgia wave over on Steam, or are you content with DICE’s offering? Let us know in the comments.
