Splatoon 3

Nintendo have announced today that the highly-anticipated Splatoon 3 will be launching on September 9th for the Nintendo Switch, and to celebrate the news, there’s a brand new gameplay trailer. You can check it out for yourself at the top of the page.

Splatoon sees players take control of Inklings and Octolings, doing battle across multiple maps and modes with the view of spreading their team’s coloured ink on as much of the map as possible. It’s about as Nintendo as a third person shooter could be, but the core gameplay loop and mechanics will keep you hooked for hours and hours.

The new trailer showcases Splatoon 3’s trademark Turf War mode, which are heated 4v4 online battles where teams to try to cover the place in as much ink as they can. The trailer showcases a new stage, Eeltail Alley, along with the Stringer, a bow weapon that can launch ink both sideways and vertically. The full game will also include a huge single-player campaign, along with the next iteration of the franchise’s Salmon Run co-op mode.

If you just can’t wait until September for Splatoon 3, and you just so happen to have a copy of Splatoon 2 and a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription, you’re in luck. From today, the Octo Expansion DLC will be available as part of the NSO + Expansion Pack service, alongside the Mega Drive and N64 emulators, Animal Crossing: New Horizon’s Happy Home Paradise DLC and the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass. The single-player Octo Expansion sees players complete 80 missions of increasing difficulty, with players able to create their own Octoling once they’ve finished it.
