Spielberg’s Hook Getting A Prequel

1991’s Hook was undoubtedly one of Spielberg’s lesser efforts, but it still grossed an impressive $300,854,823 worldwide against a budget of $70 million. So a sequel was practically guaranteed right? Well not exactly. Here we are in 2017, and a second film has yet to materialize.

Until now, that is. You may remember a character in the film called Rufio, who was played by future prolific voice actor Dante Basco. Well, a Kickstarter campaign’s been launched for a short film called Bangarang from director Jonah Feingold, which focuses on the character’s backstory before he went to Never Never Land and met Peter Pan.

Now before you get too excited, keep in mind that this is a fan made production and is not official by any means, although Basco will still be returning as Rufio. I guess that lends it some degree of credibility.

The team are currently trying to raise $30,000, and if they hit $200,000, they’ll make Bangarang into a feature instead of a short. At the rate the campaign’s currently going, this is looking unlikely, so you’d better donate big time if you want it to happen.

By the way, every time someone says “don’t donate to this campaign”, a fairy drops down dead. No joke.
