Sony Blocking Ark: Survival Evolved Coming to PS4

Ark: Survival Evolved, despite its flaws, is still a remarkable game. It criss-crosses many different survival gameplay mechanics and puts them in a world with dinosaurs. If you’re a PS4 player and can’t figure out why you haven’t played it yet, Sony won’t allow it.

According to developer Studio Wildcard in a forum post:

“As for the PS4 Release of Ark: Survival Evolved, it is currently up to Sony. We’ve been informed that we can’t release the game on this platform until it has been finished.

“We would like nothing more than to make Ark available on PS4 as soon as possible, as we already have an awesome PS4 version of the game running internally. If you would like to see it sooner, please let Sony know, as it’s unfortunately not our decision.”

The most likely reason why you can’t play Ark on PS4 is because Sony haven’t enacted an early access system for the console. While Steam has the Early Access and Game Preview belongs to Xbox One (how it was able to bring in the likes of We Happy Few), the PlayStation 4 has nothing. If they can bend the rules slightly, Sony will reap the benefits – the game has sold 5.5 million copies already. Imagine if it was actually finished.

What do you think? Is Sony right to stop an incomplete game coming to its console? Or should they jump on the bandwagon? Drop a comment and let us know.
