SEGA have revealed a new trailer for the upcoming Sonic Forces that showcases a surprising new feature: custom characters.
That’s right, any budding Sonic fan-art creator/furry-in-disguise can have their own designs stand shoulder to shoulder with Classic and Modern Sonic.
The customisation itself looks quite in-depth, with plenty of clothes and gadgets to separate your fursona from the rest of the cast. It’ll be interesting to see how that gadgets play a role in the gameplay itself.
The questions posed by the inclusion of character creation are plentiful, like who is this mystery hero? What is their significance to the narrative? Will the Furry community at large herald Sonic Forces as a Holy Bible equivalent, ruining the game for the rest of modern society? Only time will tell.
Sonic Forces will take the gameplay formula that made Sonic Generations a fantastic title, whilst hopefully ignoring influences from the turgid shitstains that are Sonic Boom and Sonic ‘06. The introduction of custom characters is a bold step for the series, and hopefully one that pays off.
