Is Somerville Coming To PS5, PS4?

Not the Tom Welling one.

Somerville

Somerville may not have been the biggest game showcased at Xbox’s E3 2021, but it sure was one of the most fascinating ones. Developed by Jumpship, which is co-helmed by ex-CEO and co-founder of Playdead Dino Patti alongside Chris Olsen, Somerville is a brand new apocalyptic IP, but will it also be coming to PS5 and PS4?

As Somerville is listed as a console launch exclusive in its reveal trailer from E3, it seems that there’s a high chance that it will also go to other platforms. “Console launch exclusive” is basically another way of saying something is a time exclusive. The Medium is a good example of this, a game that launched alongside the Xbox Series X | S but is now also coming to PS5.

As for how long the exclusivity will last, the vast majority of timed exclusivity deals go on for for a year, though it was less in the case of The Medium. With the game scheduled for an Xbox and PC release in 2022, the likelihood is that it won’t be going elsewhere until at least 2023.

Somerville Synopsis

Here’s what Somerville will be about:

“Set in the wake of a catastrophe and grounded in the intimate repercussions of large-scale conflict, players will navigate through perilous terrain as they unravel the mysteries of Earth’s visitors.”

About as ambiguous as you’d expect from one of the minds behind LIMBO and INSIDE.

Somerville Release Date

Somerville will launch in 2022 for PC, Xbox Series X | S, and Xbox One.
