Solo: A Star Wars Story Will Be The First Of A Trilogy

Solo

Disney are apparently not deterred by Solo: A Star Wars Story’s extremely troubled production schedule, because Alden Ehrenreich, who plays Han Solo in the film, revealed in an interview with Esquire that he originally signed on for three Star Wars movies, before flinching at the realization that this was not supposed to made public. In other words, we’re going to be getting an entire trilogy of Han Solo films with Ehrenreich in the lead role. Well, at least we will if the first does well enough when it opens next month.

Solo: A Star Wars Story was dominating headlines for all the wrong reasons when directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were fired by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy after five months of filming, with Ron Howard soon stepping in to take the reins. There were also worrying reports that Ehrenreich needed an acting coach on set, although we should wait until we’ve actually seen the film before we pass judgement on his performance.

Solo: A Star Wars Story also stars Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, and Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca, with Jonathan Kasdan and Toby Hefferman also appearing as Tag and Bink, two characters from the Dark Horse Star Wars comic books. Disney made the odd decision not to begin Solo’s marketing campaign until less than three months before it arrived in theaters, so if you want the other two films to be made, you really need to see the movie when it opens on May 25.
