Single of the Week: The Vanns – ‘Guilty Love’

The Vanns

Hailing from a sleepy Australian township, The Vanns are a band you’re unlikely to have heard of.

Since their founding in 2012, the band have grown rapidly, having won the Red Bull Bedroom Jam, and toured throughout Australia. Gaining a strong reputation for bubbly indie-rock, The Vanns are sure to find their big break soon. With a sound almost like that of English indie-rock outfit ‘Peace’, (although I doubt we’d see them making a cameo appearance on anything quite as tragic as Made In Chelsea), The Vanns are a band with a series of exciting radio-ready tracks.

Our single of the week is The Vanns’ single ‘Guilty Love’.

The track opens with rasping vocals and piano chords, and soon evolves into a poppy, upbeat melody made up of smooth guitar riffs and a steady drum beat. The vocals of lead singer James Vann are truly impressive, full of passion as well as versatility of sound and style. Sliding, wavering electric guitar chords are present throughout, and harmonised backing vocals only add to the quality of the track.

In ‘Guilty Love’ The Vanns produce smile evoking indie rock for the masses. Irresistible vocals and beautifully catchy melodies make this song a deserved winner of our single of the week.
