Single of the Week: Daniel James – ‘Ain’t No Money’

Ain't No Money
Daniel James is a young, very talented, Northern Irish musician, living in London, who has recently released his debut ‘Ain’t no Money’ EP. As his success gathers momentum, he has received an increasing amount of airplay on radio one, and has also taken part in the brilliant ‘Mahogany Sessions’.

The title track of the EP, and our single of the week, is ‘Ain’t No Money’.

The track opens with electronic drums and soft piano chords, and is soon infused with the casually smooth vocal style of Daniel. Harmonised hums and a crackling background noise join the rhythmic drums, and build up to the chorus. altogether, musically, there are elements of soul, R&B and indie rock, that all come together to produce a wonderful crescendo. The lyrics in this song are just as impressive as the music and the vocals, a commentary on the way that there is more to life than finances, and this coupled with seriously catchy melodies and a chorus that will honestly not be out of your head for hours, results in a very good thing. The video itself is a brilliant piece that matches perfectly the meaning behind the song.

Daniel James is on the brink of going big.
