Shenmue 3 Has Racing DLC For Some Reason

Sure, fine, but where are the sailors?

Battle Rally

The release date for the first piece of DLC has been announced for last year’s Shenmue 3, and it’s called Battle Rally. I’m not entirely sure what it is, or why it’s a thing, but it seems entirely on brand for Shenmue, so fair enough.

The Battle Rally DLC will see “contestants engage in head-to-head battles whilst racing their way through the course”. The description and image provided make the mode sound like a footrace with occasional fist fights. Again, I don’t fully know what’s going on, but this is a thing that’s happening.

The DLC will also allow players the opportunity to play not just as series hero Ryo Hazuki, but also as the treasure hunting Wuying Ren and Ryo’s training partner Wei Zhen, who will be making her first appearance in Shenmue 3. The Battle Rally DLC pack will cost you $7.99/£6.49 when it launches on January 21st for PC and PS4, though it’ll be available automatically for those who purchased the Complete DLC Collection. Will you be playing Shenmue 3’s Battle Rally? Let us know.
