Shazam! Movie Filming In 2018, The Rock Might Not Be Involved

Possibly devastating news for fans of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, here, but according to The Hollywood Reporter,  he will most likely not be appearing as ol’ Captain Marvel’s nemesis Black Adam in the upcoming Shazam! movie. That’s okay, though, because he will be starring in a solo Black Adam movie sometime afterward.

Along with this announcement, the THR article was full of details about the flick. With a projected February 2018 start date, Shazam! is going to be released sometime in 2019. The screenplay is being written by Earth to Echo scribe Henry Gayden and directed by David S. Sandberg, whose Annabelle: Creation is due to be released next month.

Are you excited about a Shazam! movie? It looks fun enough to me, as long as D.C. doesn’t make a guy with such a fun outfit and catchphrase dark and brooding. But we’ll probably get dark and brooding anyway, eh?
