Several Superstars Return During NXT Tapings

This month’s NXT TV tapings at Full Sail University provided the fans in attendance with a plethora of superstar returns as well as a few debuts. This session featured an eight man tournament made for NXT hopefuls that have yet to had made their debut on NXT television. Names ranged from Cameron Grimes (f.k.a Trevor Lee) and Angel Garza. It’s great to see fresh talent break out onto the scene, which is just as awesome as seeing NXT alumni make their returns to Full Sail.

Killian Dain, Apollo Crews and even Fandango made an appearance at last night’s tapings. Dain made a huge impact by targeting ‘The Original Bro’ Matt Riddle, putting him through the stage with a huge senton. Crews competed in a squash match against local talent whilst Fandango sided with his former Fashion Police running buddy, Tyler Breeze.

With Breeze’s recent career resurgence as part of the NXT roster, you can assume that these three main roster mainstays might find greener pastures as part of WWE’s developmental brand. At this point, I believe NXT should start branching out as its own product, removing itself from the process of manufacturing stars for Raw and SmackDown. As we’ve seen with the failed attempts at establishing former NXT headliners, some superstars are just not destined for that sort of environment.

All three men became highlights of a taping session jam packed full of tantalising action. With Pete Dunne now challenging Velveteen Dream for the North American Championship, Io Shirai’s heel turn on Candice LeRae and the ongoing feud between Johnny Gargano and Adam Cole, NXT is the place to be right now.

What do you make of these huge returns? Do you see success for them in the near future? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
