Fortnite Season 5 Guide: Search For Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces In Basements – All Jigsaw Locations

Fortnite Jigsaw puzzle pieces

For the final week of Season 6, Epic has found it appropriate to bring back the classic ‘scavenger hunt’ challenges so prolific in earlier seasons. This challenge functions quite similarly to those that came before it (e.g. Rubber Duckie, Hungry Gnomes, Lightning Bolts, etc.) and as such for the more experienced Battle Pass connoisseurs, none of this is quite revelatory.

The goal with this challenge is to locate seven Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces then interact with them to receive credit. Each Jigsaw Puzzle Piece has a unique spawn and only spawns there once. Put differently, once you interact with the puzzle piece it will disappear. This means you need to find seven unique puzzle pieces. You do not need to find all the pieces within a single match, but you must finish the match to be granted credit for finding them. If you quit the game (i.e. not lose or win), they will respawn and you must recollect them.

Of course, as you may have guessed, they spawn in basements, but they do not spawn in every basement (certainly most basements, though) and Fortnite houses a lot of sneaky basements in it. The purpose of this guide is to not only provide tips for locating each puzzle piece, but also to document as many basements that contain a piece as possible.

Like most scavenger hunts, the Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces will make a unique sound (sounds like a wooden rattle) that lets you know you’re relatively close to one (about 10 metres of so). If you want an easier time listening out for the the jigsaw pieces, turn up your sound FX volume to make them a bit louder. Just beware this makes gunshots, footsteps, etc. all louder too (so don’t blow your ears off looking for the sneaky bastards).

Below is a map with every basement I could find that contains a Jigsaw Puzzle Piece circled in red. There are far more puzzle pieces than are required to complete the challenge. That is to say, there is more than seven puzzle pieces on the map. I found 14 puzzle pieces personally, but there may be more that I’ve missed as checking every single basement can take quite some time and I may have forgotten about one or two.

As you would expect, a puzzle piece conceals itself in a Salty Springs basement. There are two basements in Salty Springs, but the puzzle piece hides in the blue house on the western edge of the town (the one with the secret monitoring station). You don’t need head down to the secret monitoring station to find it though, just go into the typical basement area down the house’s ‘legitimate’ stairs.

On the western edge of Shifty Shafts lies a house and a shed, the house (the southern building out of the pair) houses a basement with a green screen film room. The puzzle piece rests in this room.

Snobby Shores contains a puzzle piece as you would expect. The southernmost house is fairly well known for its secret basement. Superhero Base Jigsaw Puzzle Piece

While the area is technically unnamed, there exists a fancy mansion on the eastern edge of the map that is meant to be the ‘superhero’s headquarters’ last season. This building has an elaborate hidden basement hidden behind a bookcase on either side of it. Just locate this entrance and head on down, you’ll see the puzzle piece right next to the ‘holocommunicator’ in the centre of the basement. The mansion appears on the intersecting points of J5 and J6 on the main map’s grid.

Tilted Towers Jigsaw Puzzle Piece

Another region of the map you’d suspect might hide multiple puzzle pieces (due to having multiple basements), but alas it only hides one. The puzzle piece is not hidden in the basement of the pawn shop, but rather the underground garage of the apartment complex just north of it. It’s a red building shaped oddly on the southwestern corner of Tilted Towers.

After you’ve collected the seven puzzles pieces, you’ve finished this challenge, happy scrounging.

This challenge and the typical weekly treasure hunt challenge are the two more intensive challenges that conclude Season 5.
