Sea of Thieves Getting An Arena Mode

Sea of Thieves 3

Rare have announced that Sea of Thieves will be getting another free update in the form of its first purely competitive mode. It’s called The Arena, and it’ll be added to the game in early 2019. Hopefully, this means pirates looking for a scrap will stick to the arena mode instead of hunting down peaceful pirates.

The arena will exist separately from the adventure mode, which will pit rival crews against one another in a bid to collect the most treasure. Joe Neate, producer at Rare, describes the mode as “competition on demand”, giving players a wholly unique experience to the more tranquil sailing of the main mode. Meanwhile, Rare promise more updates on the next updates, Shrouded Spoils, in an exclusive panel tomorrow.
