Scrooge McDuck Gets His Dues In The Scrooge Mystery Documentary

While he never achieved quite the same level of fame as his nephew Donald, Scrooge McDuck has still touched the hearts of Disney fans all over the world since he first appeared in the pages of Four Color back in 1947. Yes, hard as it may seem to believe, the grumpy, bespectacled Pekin has now been around for 70 years. Most of us probably remember him from the beloved TV series DuckTales.

To mark this momentous occasion, a new feature-length documentary (sorry, duckumentary) called The Scrooge Mystery has been announced, and it will explore the history and legacy of the character. Morgann Gicquel will direct the film, which will primarily feature comic writer and artist Keno Don Rosa, who won an Eisner Award for his 12-part The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck series. Other interviewees will include Tuomas Holopainen of the band Nightwish, Transformers producer Don Murphy, and Angry Birds programmer Ari Arnbjörnsson.

The Scrooge Mystery has currently raised €50,476 of its €25,000 goal on Kickstarter, and there’s still four days remaining if you feel like contributing yourself. A trailer has also been released on the Kickstarter page.

Meanwhile, Scrooge McDuck will next be seen in the DuckTales reboot series, where he’ll be voiced by none other than the Tenth Doctor himself, David Tennant. The show premieres on Disney XD on August 12.
