Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders Join Spider-Man Sequel

Nick Fury Maria Hill

Next July will see Tom Holland back in the onesie again, and Vulture is now reporting that both Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders will appear in the film as well. This will mark the first time the two have appeared together in a Marvel film since…well, let’s just say spoiler alert in case anyone hasn’t seen the latest films.

For those of you still reading, we know that both of their characters, Nick Fury and Maria Hill, were victims of the snap that wiped out half the universe in Infinity War. So perhaps this offers up a clue as to when Spider-Man: Far From Home takes place.

I’ve had a theory in recent weeks about Far From Home, and that maybe the last thing we see in the movie, or in a post-credits scene, is Peter getting on the bus that he leaves in the beginning of Infinity War. So yes, like Ant-Man and the Wasp was set right before the events of Infinity War, maybe that will also be the case for Spider-Man: Far From Home.

My theory may be wrong, but a couple things we do know is that director Jon Watts is back, as is some of the younger cast members, like Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Tony Revelori. Also, Michael Keaton is expected to reprise his role as the villainous Vulture, and Jake Gyllenhaal hasn’t been confirmed yet as Mysterio, but we’ll probably get confirmation on that soon if it’s going to happen.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is scheduled for release on July 5th of 2019.
