Like most modern games, Saints Row comes complete with a selection of performance modes that can drastically alter how you experience Volition’s open world crime adventure. If you’re playing on PS5 or Xbox Series X, you’ve got plenty to choose from, but knowing how to switch your performance mode is the main thing. Here’s how you change your performance mode in Saints Row.

In order to change the performance mode of Saints Row, you need to head to the Display tab in the Options menu. Here, you’ll be able to customise various aspects of the game’s visuals, including what performance mode you want the game to be in.

For PS5 and Xbox Series X users, there are five performance modes to choose from:

– 2160p UHD/4K
– 1440p High Framerate
– 1440p High Quality
– 1080p Max Framerate
– 1080p Ultra Quality

For our money, the best setting is 1440p High Framerate, as it offers a completely smooth and consistent 60fps experience on Xbox Series X. 1440p High Quality is also an excellent performance mode choice if you prefer visuals over framerate, while the 2160p UHD/4K setting can get a bit choppy when the action kicks up a notch.

Another factor that might influence your decision is Raytracing, as only two of the performance settings support the feature: 1440p High Quality and 1080p Ultra Quality. In order to toggle the setting, you need to have selected one of the above performance modes, at which point the Raytracing setting will become available to toggle. Turning Raytracing off makes a huge difference to the framerate for 1440p High Quality in particular, so it’s worth playing around to find the performance settings that are right for you.

Saints Row is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X & S.
