How to get the best arsenal.

Being The Boss of Santo Ileso means you need to be carrying around an impressive arsenal in order to deal with the daily threats that’ll be coming your way. Fortunately for you, Saints Row comes with an absurd amount of weapons that you can use to take on the factions of Los Panteros, The Idols and Marshall Defense. With that many weapons to choose from though, we’ve decided to list a few of the best ones to ensure your arsenal is up to speed. Here’s the best weapons you can find in Saints Row.

Pugnus Sanctus Dei

Due to enemies feeling like bullet sponges, melee combat isn’t quite as satisfying as it was when you could smack people with a big purple “plaything”. However, if you’re insistent on running a melee build of some kind, the Pugnus Sanctus Dei is the best melee weapon by a country mile. It’s just that finding it is going to take a bit of doing.

In order to unlock the weapon, you’ll need to complete the Hidden History collectibles at St. Thomas Corvacho and Meeker Square. St. Thomas Corvacho is located in the northwestern corner of East Providencia. Head directly southeast from the Branded clothing store in West Providencia and you’ll be right there. Meanwhile, Meeker Square is located on the Eastern side of Old Town West, just northwest of the Buckaroo Leggings clothing store.

As for the weapon itself, the Pugnus Sanctus Dei is an extendable boxing glove that can be used to bop people in the face from a long distance. It’s naturally a dual wield weapon as well, so both triggers can be used to smack goons around. The damage output is respectable enough, and the Pugnus can even be used to destroy cars, which will also earn you the Bonus Round achievement/trophy.

D4th Blossom SMG

While the pistols are fine, they’re more of a last resort weapon if you run out of ammo for everything else, so let’s move on to the best SMG in the entire game, the D4th Blossom. While the damage for this Vector looking gun might not seem like a lot, the absurd rate of fire means you’ll be tearing through enemy health bars, especially after a few upgrades.

The D4th Blossom SMG truly comes into its own later on in the game, when you unlock the dual wield skill. Naturally, this lets you run akimbo pistols and SMGs, which doubles the damage output of this already excellent gun. The drawback is that you’ll be using up ammo like it’s going out of fashion, but as SMGs go, the D4th Blossom is easily one of the best weapons in Saints Row.

K-8 Krukov AR

The workhorse of anyone’s arsenal, the K-8 Krukov AR isn’t flashy, but it’ll get the job done every single time. At a basic level, the Krukov will deal out solid, if not impressive damage, but upgrading the rifle to maximum will make it one of the most reliable death machines you can carry. If you’re going out on a mission, don’t leave home without a K-8 Krukov AR.

It’s worth noting here that weapons can have signature abilities if you complete certain tasks and challenges while using them. The signature ability for the Krukov is that killstreaks with this weapon reduce the cooldown on your takedown even further, meaning you can use your takedown more often with this weapon, allowing you to recover your health more often as a result.

Stagecoach Shotgun

A slow firing shotgun with a fairly long reload time probably wouldn’t be many people’s first suggestion for the best shotgun in the whole of Saints Row, but what the Stagecoach Shotgun lacks in usability, it more than makes up for it with sheer stopping power. While other shotguns have decently sized magazines and a higher rate of fire, their damage output isn’t up to standard.

Meanwhile, the Stagecoach Shotgun has the uncanny ability to effortlessly shred pretty much anything unfortunate enough to be in a close proximity to the end of the barrel. Tough enemies might need to be double tapped at least in order to be taken out, but other than that, the Stagecoach Shotgun is an amazing option for when the fight gets a little bit too close for comfort.

RPG Launcher

We probably don’t need to explain why having an RPG in your arsenal is a good idea, especially in a game like Saints Row where vehicles are flying at you at regular intervals, but we will anyway. Having guns is great for when you’re just dealing with people, but when the enemies start bringing APCs, trucks with mounted turrets and even tanks, you’ll want something that’s just a bit more powerful.

This is where the RPG comes into play, with the rocket propelled payload causing a huge explosion and even a possible chain reaction that’ll level a fight in a matter of seconds. Unlocking the signature ability Big Bang also increases the boom capabilities massively, so it’s worth upgrading the RPG Launcher to be your dedicated anti-armour weapon.

Thrustbuster

Probably the daftest weapon in Saints, the Thrustbuster is unlocked by completing the third mission in the Eurekabator! Venture. This venture is all about unlocking new tech for the Saints to use, and the Thrustbuster weapon is definitely the most fun of them all to use. Shaped like an American football, the Thrustbuster attaches to enemies and after a few short seconds, sends them flying in the most chaotic way possible.

While that might not sound like the most practical weapon in the world, it does a world of good when it comes to crowd control. The Thrustbuster works on tough enemies, meaning you can use the weapon to get them out of the fight while you focus on the weaker targets. Even if they do survive, they’ll be much weaker than they were. With a signature ability that can grab multiple enemies at once, the Thrustbuster can become a real force to be reckoned with.

Saints Row is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X & S.
