Following huge demand that includes over 10,000 concurrent players and hundreds of thousands of invites, Double Eleven have announced that Rust: Console Edition’s closed beta for PS4 and Xbox One will be extended by another week. The beta will now conclude on April 5th, 2021 instead of March 29th.

Here’s Double Eleven’s explanation of the extension:

“Overall the community has shown immense love and support for the game, and we understand the huge responsibility we have on our shoulders, and how important it is for the community that we present the best possible version of Rust Console Edition once we release it. This is why we are going to extend the Closed Beta period for one more week.”

The rest of the blog post goes into details on how much they have learned from the Closed Beta and how there’s so much work still to be done.

Can I Still Get A Rust Beta Invite?

Yes, as mentioned by Double Eleven in the blog post:

“We want Rust Console Edition to be the best game it can possibly be, so by extending the beta we should be able to get some more valuable information and work on even more improvements. This will also give the community more opportunities to join us as we expand the test even further, and for our support team to bring as many of you as they possibly can to the game!”

However, it’s worth bearing in mind that if you signed up during the course of the beta, you aren’t guaranteed a key due to how many invites they have to get through and how Double Eleven have to prioritise those who have been waiting the longest. If you’re only just signing up to the mailing list, there’s less chance of you getting in.

Also bear in mind that you will not be able to discuss or showcase the game online during the beta as you will likely be banned not just from the beta, but also from the full retail release as well.

Rust: Console Edition is due to launch sometime this summer for PS4 and Xbox One. It will also be playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S via backwards compatibility.
