WrestleMania season has well and truly started with last night’s episode of Raw marking the return of The Animal and The Big Dog.
Roman Reigns’ appearance was announced a few days prior, suggesting that the former Universal Champion had some pretty big news to tell the WWE Universe. Speculations were indeed confirmed when Reigns hit the ring to kick off the show, welcomed back by a huge reception of cheers, revealing that he had indeed defeated his bout of leukaemia and is fit to make a comeback in time for WrestleMania.
A truly amazing moment for Roman and his fans. Reigns’ presence was felt later on in the evening when he and Seth Rollins helped their former partner Dean Ambrose fight back against Drew McIntyre. So it seems that The Shield will be reuniting once again in the coming weeks.
But of course, WWE weren’t quite done with the surprises. The night was highlighted by a 70th birthday celebration for WWE Hall of Famer, Ric Flair. Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Sting and Ricky Steamboat all stood together in the ring, honouring The Nature Boy and celebrating his long life and career. Before Naitch was able to appear, the camera cut to backstage to find Hollywood star and former World Champion, Batista, standing in front of Flair’s locker room.
The Animal sent a direct threat to Triple H in the form of a beaten 70 year old man, responding to comments made during the Evolution reunion at SmackDown 1000. So if this is anything to go by, it seems we will be getting the anticipated WrestleMania rematch between Triple H and Batista this year at Metlife Stadium.
