Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Reaches $1 Billion

Star Wars fans should be rejoicing right now, because Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which was released last month, has now accumulated a total worldwide gross of over $1 billion. Nobody’s surprised by this news, but it’s still great nonetheless. Given the enormous popularity of the Star Wars franchise, we would probably be surprised if it earned anything less.

This comes after The Forces Awakens ended its run with a phenomenal $2,068,223,624, so it’s probably safe to assume that $1 billion is an easy amount for a Star Wars movie to reach. Seeing as Rogue One is also only the second Star Wars film released by Disney since they purchased the property back in 2012, the House of Mouse are probably once again congratulating themselves on making such a worthwhile investment.

Rogue One’s current worldwide total stands at $1,011,301,563, which also makes it the 13th film distributed by Disney to have grossed over $1 billion (and the 28th film to do so overall), so it can finally put all the behind the scenes re-shoot problems that plagued its development behind it and revel in its financial success.

We don’t have too long to wait until Disney becomes even more insanely rich from the next Star Wars film either, as Episode VIII rolls into our galaxy on December 15, 2017. In the meantime, Rogue One’s still playing, so be sure to go and see it again, in order to give Disney even more of your cash! Because let’s face it, we all want Disney to keep making Star Wars films from now until the end of time.
