The Equalizer 2’s Richard Wenk To Script Kraven The Hunter Movie For Sony

Collider just reported that Richard Wenk has been hired by Sony Pictures to script their upcoming Kraven the Hunter movie. No other details about the project are available at this time, although Wenk also penned the script for The Equalizer 2, which is proving to be a modest hit for Sony.

Sergei Kravinoff, who would later become known as Kraven the Hunter, first appeared in #15 of The Amazing Spider-Man, all the way back in 1964. The half-brother of the master of disguise known as the Chameleon, he was a ruthless big game hunter who set his sights on adding Spider-Man to his trophy collection. He eventually committed suicide in the Kraven’s Last Hunt story arc, before being resurrected by the blood of Spider-Man some years later.

Kraven the Hunter will be part of Sony’s Spider-Verse franchise, which will begin with Venom, which opens on October 5, and will also include Silver & Black and Morbius the Living Vampire. Despite comments made by producer Amy Pascal, the Spider-Verse will not be connected to the MCU, and seeing as Sony owns the film rights to around nine hundred Marvel characters, we should be seeing Spider-Verse movies from now until the end of time. Unless Venom flops at the box office, in which case the franchise will be dead in the water.
