After recently being announced by Capcom following a lot of speculation, Resident Evil: CODE Veronica X is out today on PS4 as a PS2 Classic.

It comes to North America first (May 9) and then Europe soon after (May 10).

Originally released on Sega’s Dreamcast as CODE Veronica, it was then ported to PS2 as CODE Veronica X to warm reviews and cult status. It’s quite the journey for the game, from being doomed on a doomed console to a new lease of life on Sony’s behemoth to getting another go at the limelight on PS4.

CODE Veronica is most notable for introducing 3D backgrounds for the first time in the Resident Evil franchise. It’s also notorious for having the intensely hateable Steve Burnside as a supporting character.

While CODE Veronica may not be the most fondly remembered game in the Resi saga, it definitely isn’t forgotten – check out some of those games here. Meanwhile, you can read our review for Resident Evil 7 and why its sales failure rests solely on Capcom.
