Following the six-episode “mini-event” that aired aired earlier this year, Fox is apparently in “significant talks” with stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, and creator, Chris Carter to make further episodes.

Despite the mixed reception from critics and fans alike, it appears Fox would prefer a future series to be longer (about eight to ten episodes). Part of the issue of the “mini-event” was, according to Fox CEO Dana Walden, that “The show was off the air for a very long time”.

There was a lot back-story for new fans and blanks to fill in for hardcore X-Philes, not to mention the pesky task of getting Mulder and Scully back into the FBI. “There won’t”, she stated, “be the same obligation to reset the series.”

As yet, there is no indication as to when any potential future episodes may appear.
