Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was one of 2021’s most anticipated games for the PlayStation 5. The game was a huge stress test for the SSD technology the PS5 is equipped with and was a major success. The game’s graphics are colorful and rich and are accompanied by varied and exciting gameplay.
PC fans of Ratchet & Clank were hoping for a release to PC, but the game only launched on the PS5. In fact, the Ratchet & Clank franchise has never been ported to PC, which begs the question of whether Rift Apart will be any different. Earlier Ratchet & Clank games are available on PS Now, which is the closest the series got to PC availability.

Ratchet and Clank have both returned in Rift Apart to save the universe yet again. The duo have been acting as heroes for a long time, which was acknowledged in Rift Apart, much to the amusement of its fans.
Reviews for the game constantly rave about its stunning graphics, from the detailed gears on the Buzz Blade to the sheer detail found in Ratchet’s fur. Not only are the graphics phenomenal, but the story is emotionally resonant while expertly utilizing comedy to keep players grinning.
Although bright and bubbly on the surface, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart does a fantastic job of tackling mental health topics that many people experience. Ratchet struggles with his desire to find the rest of the lombax race, Clank grapples with his self-worth after being injured, and Rivet, a new character, wrestles with trust issues stemming from a lie without someone like Clank by her side.
Each world’s story, dialogue, and encounters are unique and tuned to the personality of the lombax the player is controlling there. Each one also has a side quest along with the main adventure to really give gamers a local sense of their surroundings.
A fan-favorite addition is Glitch, a robot that Ratchet summons to fight computer viruses. Although the shooting sequences are fairly simple, it’s the bot’s adorable personality that has won over the hearts of gamers.
Will Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Be Available on PC?
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart was released as a PlayStation 5 exclusive in June 2021. As of right now, there is no official word on a PC release date for the game, but hope remains that it will happen.
This is partly due to Sony’s effort to bring PlayStation 4 exclusives to PC. Obviously, the PS5 is different, but hopefully Sony’s approach to exclusives will extend to the newer console.
One of the more recent trailers for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart refers to the game as a “PlayStation 5 console exclusive” and not a “PlayStation exclusive”.
If we jump head first onto the speculation train, the term “console” could suggest that while no other console, including the PS4, will be receiving the game, it may be available for PC in the future. Judging from other PlayStation exclusive ports of late, the PC version of Rift Apart is more of a question of “when” than “if”.
