Ranking of Kings: Season 2 – Everything You Should Know

Just as Funimation’s anime catalog was starting to get a bit stale, the service dropped Ranking of Kings: Season 1. The anime serves as an adaptation of Sosuke Toka’s coming-of-age fantasy manga of the same name, and since launching, it’s been receptive to tremendous praise. So with the fandom fawning over Bojji and his friends, what’re the odds of us getting a Ranking of Kings: Season 2?

Officially, there’s been no word if the anime will be returning for a second season any time soon, although you’d be surprised to know that we’re getting a continuation. Yup, the franchise will be returning in 2023, but this time it’ll be as a special titled Ranking of Kings: Treasure Chest of Courage. Not much is known about the featurette yet, though that makes you wonder that if a special is following this soon, then Ranking of Kings: Season 2 might not be that far behind.

When Is Ranking of Kings: Season 2 Coming Out?

Unfortunately, Ranking of Kings: Season 2 has not yet been confirmed to be in the works, but if we were to hypothesize about its arrival, you could look at a potential fall 2025 release date. On the other hand, the anime might not return for an even longer duration, specifically because the anime has already covered 12 of the total 14 volumes of the manga.

It’ll be a while before more source material is put out, so by the looks of it, fans hoping for Ranking of Kings: Season 2 are going to be bummed out by the long wait.

What Is Ranking of Kings: Season 2 About? (Spoiler Alert)

The anime adapted the manga up till volume 12 where Bojji and Kage helped save the Bosse Kingdom. As of right now, the manga is on its 14th volume, which is just a little ways ahead of Season 1’s ending. Considering that, there’s not a handful we know about what Ranking of Kings: Season 2 will entail.

But from what’s going on in the manga currently, Bojji and Kage have set out on an even bigger journey. Bojji’s determined to become a king, and for that reason, he decides to venture across all other kingdoms to gain strength.

Which Studio Is Making Ranking of Kings: Season 2?

It hasn’t been looking good for Studio Wit ever since Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga both switched to being developed by MAPPA. The studio has been having its fair share of production problems but nonetheless, chances of Wit reprising the lead on Ranking of Kings: Season 2 look bright.

The studio has already confirmed it’s working on the Treasure Chest of Courage special, and hopefully that still remains the case post-release.

Where Will Ranking of Kings: Season 2 Be Aired?

Funimation licensed the anime, so that’s where Season 1 aired originally. Due to the licensing, the same should be the case with Ranking of Kings: Season 2.

But if you’ve kept up with anime news as of late, you’d know that Crunchyroll absorbed Funimation. You can watch the first season over there too, and with luck, Ranking of Kings: Season 2  will also join Crunchyroll’s premium collection.
