Ancient mythologies are a fascinating subject that piques the interest of many. It’s no surprise that shows based on mythology are big hits, especially if they’re well done. Case in point, Adam Prince’s Ragnarok, a series based on Norse Mythology and what it would be like if the Norse gods and monsters existed today. If that gets your Viking spirit burning, now’s the best time to start since Ragnarok: Season 3 is almost here.
If you’re a fan of Percy Jackson, this modern take on the Norse gods might satisfy your mythological cravings. Magne Seier is a high school student who discovers that he’s the modern reincarnation of Thor. Season 2 came to a thundering end as Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer, is finally reforged. Time to fill you in with the Ragnarok: Season 3 release date and story.
When Is Ragnarok: Season 3 Being Released?
Sound the horns because Ragnarok: Season 3 is releasing on August 24, 2023. Like the first two seasons, you can catch Magne’s epic adventures in Season 3 on Netflix. Netflix Nordic themselves tweeted a short video featuring the main cast of Ragnarok. They revealed the release date and even threw in some hints as to what the finale might contain.
The video also revealed that Ragnarok: Season 3 will be the last in the series. Hopefully, the end to Magne’s story will be the satisfying and epic conclusion he deserves.
Will The Cast Return For Ragnarok: Season 3?
If you loved the cast from the previous seasons, then the gods must be smiling upon you. The cast for Ragnarok: Season 3 will remain unchanged. With the release date close at hand, details of the cast are already out.
Netflix already has a page for Ragnarok: Season 3, and on it, you can see the familiar names of David Stakston (Magne Seier), Jonas Strand Gravli (Laurits Seier), Theresa Frostad Eggesbø (Saxa Jutul), Herman Tømmeraas (Fjor Jutul), Danu Sunth (Iman Reza), and many more.
There are no actor replacements or removals except for the characters no longer relevant to the plot. An example is Emma Bones as Gry Isungset, who left Edda in the first half of Season 2.
What Will Ragnarok: Season 3 Be About?
Unlike the cast, an official synopsis for Ragnarok: Season 3 has not come out yet. However, the end of Season 2 and the short video from Netflix Nordic tell a lot about what might happen.
Now that Magne has his powers back, it’s time to finally end Jutul Industries. He was about to fight the Jutuls at the Season 2 finale, but they managed to escape. The series is obviously building up to a final confrontation between the reincarnated gods and the Jutulheim giants.
Another conflict that’s been building up is between Magne/Thor and Laurits/Loki. Finding out he was lied to must have been the tipping point for Laurits to finally turn against Magne. You don’t need to have a major in Norse Mythology to see where this is going. Thor and Loki always find butt heads in the end. The question is how these iterations of them handle it.
The video the cast members took also hinted at some potential events. They hinted at Iman “stepping into the spotlight.” It always felt like she was hiding something or knew something the other characters didn’t, so it’ll be interesting to finally learn her secrets.
Saxa Jutul and Magne always had a complicated relationship. However, that may change as it’s hinted that Saxa might be finding a new partner in Ragnarok: Season 3.
