The development and Game Preview launch of PUBG on Xbox One has been tumultuous at best, but the “finish line” is almost in sight. During the Inside Xbox presentation at Gamescom 2018, it was announced that PUBG will finally be getting its 1.0 launch on September 4th.
Many of you know I was in South Korea a few weeks ago, and now I can finally share details of that trip. Official release date of @PUBG is 04 Sep, and with it – a new map, mode and custom games https://t.co/TFVdn9jmmT

The full launch of PUBG on Xbox One brings with it a number of key updates, including the new Sanhok map which has been available on PC for a while, along with the War Mode that adds a new twist to the core gameplay. You’ll also be able to set up custom games with a variety of settings modifiers. Oh, and there will also be achievements, which is music to my ears. Can’t go wrong with a bit of extra gamerscore.
Beyond that, PUBG Corp promised that development will continue beyond the 1.0 launch, which will include the teased fourth map that’s set in the arctic somewhere. Whether these changes and updates will be enough to drag Xbox players from Fortnite remains up for debate, but we’re excited for the full launch in two weeks.
