PS4 Exclusive Detroit: Become Human Releases This May

Detroit Beyond Human

Quantic Dream’s long awaited sci-fi narrative game Detroit: Become Human finally has a confirmed release date of May 25th. That should give all of us enough time to work up the courage to play through Fahrenheit/The Indigo Prophecy again. Boy, that was a game.

Detroit, which director David Cage has described as their most ambitious game to date, puts you in control of 3 different androids who begin to feel emotions, and it’s up to you to decide their actions, which in turn will impact the story and the world around them. Connor is an investigator specialising in android related crime, Kara is a housekeeper on the run for empathising with a troubled child, whilst Markus will become the leader of the android revolution. No pressure, eh?

Cage has been touting the level of choice and consequences players will have to deal with in the full game, stating that players may miss entire scenes or find that characters integral to one player’s plot may die early on. It’ll be impressive if they manage to pull it off, though we were certainly impressed after our time with the game back in November.

Of course, the development of Detroit: Become Human hasn’t been without controversy, with accusations of harassment and a toxic corporate culture being thrown towards developers Quantic Dream. Plus, the Paris Game Week trailer ended up with the studio catching flak from UK MPs and traditional media for its depiction of domestic violence. Safe to say it’s had somewhat of a turbulent development, but we’ll finally find out if it was all worth it when the game launches in May. Are you excited for David Cage’s next project, or have you been put off by some of his previous work? Sound off in the comments below.
