The Annual Post-E3 Gaming Lull: Which Games Are You Catching Up On?

Witcher Blood and WIne

After E3 closes its doors and runs out of paper bags to give people to hyperventilate into, the big guns in gaming take a bit of a nap. It’s a long-standing tradition as developers go back to the office and actually try to deliver on their promises.

Between now and late-July, the game release schedule is looking a little sparse. We just recently had Get Even and the superb-looking Nex Machina (expect a review of that soon), but it’s slim pickings for the time being – Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is just about the biggest name still to look forward to.

This isn’t a bad thing, though. Quite the opposite.

The post-E3 slump gives us the chance to go back and buy some games (with handsome reductions) that we might not have missed and to also polish off those we had to abandon, because, you know, life.

I have a few games I want to revisit over the next month or so. I’m only about ten hours or so into Horizon: Zero Dawn, a game which Nick fell in all kinds of love with. It’s massive and so overflowing with content that it overwhelms me a little. But with a lighter schedule for the time being, I might give it another go.

I’ve been saving it for a rainy day, so The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine is definitely on the cards. It scares me a little, though – it’s another game that’s probably going to take over my life. But I loved Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine is apparently even better, so let’s see.

The Last of Us Remastered on Grounded difficulty is another game I’ve been grimacing through. I seem to be able to make an inch of progress every hour, which means I will probably beat it before whenever the hell The Last of Us 2 comes out.

How about you? Got something you’re desperate to finish? Or is there anything out soon you’re waiting for? Let me know below.
