Pokemon Scarlet And Violet

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have announced that Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, the next generation of Pokémon games, will be launching worldwide on the Nintendo Switch on November 18th. To celebrate, the duo have released a new gameplay trailer showcasing the game in action, which you can check out at the top of the page.

The new Pokémon games are a departure from the regular formula of Pokémon, as Scarlet and Violet are the first ever open world RPGs in the series. Players will be able to explore the world however they like, unbound by the storyline of the game. You’ll likely still be going to towns and winning badges (at least, I hope anyway), but the order in which you explore the world isn’t bound by the story, which is interesting.

Naturally, there’s some differences between Scarlet and Violet, with both games having their own Legendary Pokémon in the form of Koraidon and Miraidon. However, in another series first, each game will have their own professor too, signalling that each game will have more differences than usual.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet is also the most connected multiplayer experience in the series, with up to four players able to explore the world, catch and trade Pokémon and even do battle. While there’s no confirmation on what kind of modes you can engage with other players with, hopefully there’ll be mechanics similar to Sword and Shield’s Dynamax battles. I just want to battle raid boss Pokémon with my friends.
