"All will be revealed soon."

Playtonic Games, the developers behind both Yooka-Laylee titles, have announced via email to their Kickstarter backers that the company is undergoing somewhat of a rebrand. I swear, if this is them become Rare 2 BAYBEE and they’re working on a new Banjo-Kazooie game, I’ll be very happy indeed.

Playtonic Are Rebranding?

The news was revealed on Twitter by the user @HermanWrestling, who shared a screenshot of the Kickstarter email stating that Playtonic would be undergoing said rebrand. The email also said to keep the details of this news “mum”, which means keep it secret, but I guess it’s too late for that now.

The email promises that there’s a good reason for Playtonic to undergo a rebrand, and that all will be revealed soon, leading to some speculation that Xbox have purchased or are looking to purchase the developers for a Rare-related rebrand and that they’ll be working on something Banjo-related. Given that Playtonic was formed by former Rare employees, and that Yooka-Laylee is clearly a spiritual successor to Banjo, it’s entirely possible, though nothing has been confirmed as of yet. Once Playtonic have made their announcements, we’ll let you know.
