Tired of Persona 5 yet? Those 100+ hours of Phantoming and Thieving not quite properly scratched the itch? Well, you’re in luck with another spin-off for everyone’s favourite life-eater today by the name of Persona 5 Tactica on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X & S, Switch.

A tactics-based spin-off from the RPG-visual-novel-lifesim that first released in 2016 to widespread acclaim, Persona 5 Tactica features an all new story in which the Phantom Thieves must take on a military group named the Legionnaires and help out with a revolution.

Here’s a synopsis for Persona 5 Tactica:

After a strange incident, the Phantom Thieves wander into a bizarre realm where its citizens are living under tyrannical oppression. Surrounded by a military group named Legionnaires, they find themselves in grave danger until a mysterious revolutionary named Erina rescues them and offers an enticing deal in exchange for their help. What truth lies behind Erina and the deal she offers to the Phantom Thieves?

Oh go on then, here’s a trailer as well.

Persona 5 Tactica certainly looks like an interesting enough game, and while XCOM seems to be the only game of its kind that ever shifts serious numbers, you have to imagine that the Person 5 name will help out Tactica a lot.

If you feel like we’ve been seeing a whole lot of Persona 5 since it launched on PS4 (and PS3!) in 2016, you aren’t the only one. It had a souped-up Royal version that came out in 2019 that was later ported to every platform going. We’ve also had Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight, an often forgotten rhythm game, Persona Q2: New Cinema Labyrinth, an even more forgotten 3DS dungeon crawler, and Persona 5 Strikers, a generally decent musou game that ended up being quite successful.

Still, when you consider the fact that Persona 5 alone accounts for over half of the sales the entire series has ever managed, you can’t blame Atlus for milking it a little/lot. We haven’t had much news on Persona 6, but surely an announcement is due in the next year or so.
