Persona 5’s Morgana Joins Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania

We Never Saw This Coming

Morgana in Super Monkey Ball

After a considerable time away, Sega’s Super Monkey Ball series is slated for a major revival with the imminent release of Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania.

After previously announcements that Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails, Beat from Jet Set Radio, and Kazuma Kiryu from Yakuza would be playable characters in the game, fans have come to expect further Smash Bros.-esque crossovers, and their expectations proved correct today when the Super Monkey Ball twitter account tweeted that Morgana, the feline mascot from Persona 5, would be taking a break from killing perverse demons and hopping into a big ball to run around for a while.

A brief gameplay trailer shows the furriest Phantom Thief rolling around your typical Monkey Ball courses, collecting treasure chests instead of the game’s usual bananas.

While the sight of Morgana scurrying around in a Monkey Ball isn’t as comically surreal as Kiryu, this is still definitely an exciting development for fans of either Persona or Super Monkey Ball. The presence of these additional characters from Sega properties indicates a desire on Sega’s part to get as many eyes on the new title, and Morgana’s another fun choice to add to the party.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania will release on October 5th, 2021, on PC, Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S.
