Paul Heyman And Eric Bischoff Named WWE Directors

Could this be the end of the slump period?

Raw Smackdown Live

As confirmed by Sports Illustrated, WWE have named Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff executive directors of WWE TV. Fortunately, these roles are not to be part of any on-screen storylines and will purely be utilised backstage to help improve the weekly episodes of Raw and SmackDown Live. Bischoff and Heyman will be handling the two brands separately, with Heyman taking control of Monday Night Raw and Bischoff directing SmackDown.

Both men seem natural choices to have as directors of WWE TV, both having significant experience in producing enthralling wrestling programming from their times leading WCW and ECW during ‘The Attitude Era’. Heyman and Bischoff both have a keen eye for talent and creativity, so hopefully this will lead to a refreshingly new landscape for WWE superstars to compete in.

The new Executive Directors will still be reporting to Vince McMahon, so don’t think the CEO’s influence is truly gone just yet. Nevertheless, I think this will be a giant step in the right direction towards better, more consistent weekly TV.

Are you excited to see what Heyman and Bischoff can do on their respective brands? What new changes do you think could be brought in? Make sure to let us know in the comments below.
