Paul Dano to Play the Riddler in Matt Reeves’ The Batman

Here's a riddle for you: What is the beginning of eternity, the end of time and space, the beginning of every end and the end of every race?

According to an article from The Hollywood Report, Paul Dano has been chosen to play the Riddler for Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Even though Jonah Hill was initially in talks to play either the Penguin or the Riddler, he reportedly turned down the offer because Warner Bros. couldn’t give him the deal he wanted. His rejection is definitely a win for Dano, who now gets the opportunity to have a go at this iconic villain.

The role of the Edward Nashton, aka the Riddler, was brought to life on the big screen by Jim Carrey in 1995’s Batman Forever. Dano has played his fair share of kooky characters, so it is easy to see why he was chosen for the part. He will join Robert Pattinson’s Batman, and Zoe Kravitz’ Catwoman; the latter was recently cast this week as well. Matt Reeves also tweeted about the casting decision, including a rather interesting gif of the actor.

Dano might not be the final villainous casting. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Reeves mentioned that he plans to have a rogues gallery, though it is uncertain as to which other villains will be a part of this, and whether they will be working together or apart.
