The official trailer for 20th Century Fox’s movie Underwater just dropped, and as far as trailers go, this one isn’t too bad. We get a glimpse of some of the cast members, including the likes of Kristen Stewart, Vincent Cassel, T.J. Miller and John Gallagher Jr. Underwater is the second major motion picture Stewart is tied to this year, and it seems like both Stewart and Robert Pattinson have made decent careers for themselves in the aftermath of Twilight.
The film follows a crew of underwater researchers, who find themselves at the mercy of a mysterious threat after an earthquake devastates their subterranean laboratory. There is tension and intrigue, since the trailer doesn’t give us a proper glimpse of the monsters, which is to its credit – let’s hope Fox doesn’t ruin it by releasing another trailer that spoils everything.
Underwater is directed by Michael Eubank, who previously directed 2014’s Sci-Fi movie The Signal, so we are in for a quite a trip with Underwater considering how weird and creepy The Signal was. Eubank also has tons of cinematography credits to his name, so it’s safe to say that Underwater will provide a visual feast. Unfortunately, the movie is rated PG, so while the trailer gives off Alien vibes, the rating prevents it from delivering a substantial horror piece.
Underwater will be released in theatres January 10, 2020.
