Observation: Ex-Rockstar, Rocksteady Devs Working On New Sci-Fi Thriller

Observation

Devolver Digital and No Code have revealed the first glimpse at Observation: a sci-fi thriller that focuses on the mystery of an AWOL astronaut in the outer reaches of space.

You can check out the trailer for it below.

“Observation takes players on a suspenseful journey to the outer reaches of space to uncover what exactly happened to astronaut Dr. Emma Fisher and the crew of the space station Observation. The captivating narrative unfolds through the lens of the station’s artificial intelligence S.A.M. Players assume the role of S.A.M. by operating the station’s control systems, cameras, and tools to assist Emma in discovering what is happening to the station and the vanished crew.”

Maybe I’m just looking into it too much, but is S.A.M a reference to Sam Rockwell’s character (also called Sam) in Moon, as well as a nod to GERTY in the same vein? I don’t really know, but I do know that this is a game that looks plenty interesting.

Developed by talent previous known at studios like Rockstar North, Rocksteady, Creative Assembly, CCP and IO Interactive (Christ, it’s like a supergroup), Observation will launch in Spring 2019 for PC and PS4.
