Hello Games have revealed that No Man’s Sky will be available on Xbox Game Pass from tomorrow, allowing for millions of subscribers to try the game for the very first time. While that’s news worth celebrating in and of itself, Hello Games have also revealed that the Xbox Pass launch will be accompanied by a cross-play update, so PC, PS4 and Xbox One players can play together.

In a blog post regarding the announcement, Hello Games founder Sean Murray states: “A tremendous amount of work has gone into this update and the underlying technology and systems. We’ve moved to an entirely new networking architecture, with more flexibility for the future, allowing players to play together regardless of platform. I’m very proud of the team that has worked so hard to make this happen. Meanwhile we are continuing to work hard on new content updates, large and small for the future.”

Players will be able to encounter players from other platforms while on the Space Anomaly, when flying through space or when exploring planets. You’ll then be able to add a cross-platform player to your list of No Man’s Sky friends through the in-game menu, or by entering a unique code. With the influx of Game Pass players that are due to arrive tomorrow, it was the perfect time to deploy a cross-play update for No Man’s Sky, ensuring a more populated universe for players on all platforms.
