NJPW News: Kishin Liger Returns To Face Down Minoru Suzuki

Kishin's back for one last scare-fest

Jushin ‘Thunder’ Liger has always been considered one of the all-round good dudes in professional wrestling, but the former IWGP Junior Heavyweight champion has a dark side, a side that he indulged in once more to return fire on Minoru Suzuki.

Liger was recently unmasked by Suzuki as part of New Japan’s Destruction tour, in what seemed like a repeat attack, Liger battled back with an uncharacteristic low blow, only to reveal the face-painted Kishin Liger underneath his iconic bodysuit.

Kishin Liger is the unmasked version of Jushin, who lives to freak out fellow wrestlers and Japanese audiences. Kishin would often resort to deathmatches and other hardcore tendencies to teach his opponents a lesson, to fear Jushin’s dark side. For those looking for a prime example of Kishin’s brutality, check out his matches with The Great Muta from yesteryear.

It seems like NJPW are building to a bloody grudge match between the two veterans at a later date, perhaps Wrestle Kingdom 14 if they can stretch this feud out until January in time for his retirement match. Although this seems like more of a placeholder feud before he enters his final dance.
