Nintendo Switch Launches New Digital Game Vouchers

Two games for a reduced price, for the most part.

Game Voucher

Nintendo have announced a new offer for those that prefer buying their Switch games digitally. Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers are a new service that allows players to pick up two Nintendo Switch games for a reduced price. The vouchers cost £84, and will allow you to purchase two of 30+ games, which includes all of Nintendo’s big first party games and more. Check out the announcement trailer below.

Most of the titles available as part of this deal retail for £49.99 on the Nintendo eShop, so on average you’ll be experiencing savings of about £16. That said, Breath of the Wild and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are £59.99, meaning you could save £36 and pick up another game while you’re at it, or you could use it to pre-order the likes of Super Mario Maker 2 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, at a reduced price. That said, there are some games that only cost £39.99, so pay attention if you do use this voucher.

There are a couple of other caveats to consider too. The Vouchers are only available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, so that £16 you save will be going towards that yearly subscription in the first place. The games can be purchased separately within 12 months of each other, but with Nintendo’s digital pricing being so expensive, it’ll still be cheaper to purchase games physically for the most part. Eurogamer notes that you can purchase New Super Mario Bros. U and Super Mario Maker 2 off Amazon for £79.98, saving around £4.

Let’s also not forget that if you are planning on purchasing digitally for the Nintendo Switch, especially bigger titles like Breath of the Wild, you’re also going to have to shell out for a Micro SD card. Anyway, what are your thoughts on this Voucher system? Sound off in the comments.
